Youth Advisory Committee (YAC)

The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is a group charged with bringing the perspective of young people who receive cross-systems services (e.g. Foster care, mental health, juvenile justice, special education, substance abuse, etc.) to the work of the Citywide Oversight Committee (COC) (YH – link to COC page). The purpose of this youth advisory committee will be to ensure meaningful two-way communication and collaboration between a forum of government agencies, providers, youth and family representatives, and the young people who receive services.

Led by Youth Power!, a youth-driven statewide systems advocacy network, this wonderful opportunity allows for young individuals to participate in improving policy, planning and service delivery for NYC youth, as well as the social and emotional well-being of children.

How Can I Join the YAC?
Fill out a YAC application (pdf) and send it via email, fax or mail to Desiree Moore.

Family Resource Centers

The Family Resource Centers of New York City (FRCs) is a support network for parents, families and caretakers with children who have emotional and behavioral challenges. With knowledgeable staff trained in a variety of services, which include: providing information and referrals to other community organizations, teaching parenting skills, running support groups, and even advocating for a parent who may be facing a governmental agency alone and unprepared, the FRCs help in family-driven and strength-based methods.
