Felicia Alleyne-Davis’ advocacy journey started almost 25 years ago with the birth of her disabled son. Acquiring the appropriate services for him, the world of advocacy opened up for her. In 2008, Felicia trained with the Child Welfare Organizing Project (CWOP) to become a Parent Advocate in the Child Welfare system. Understanding the needs of impacted parents, in 2009, she became the first Parent Advocate at New Alternatives for Children (NAC). Later that year, Felicia joined the Parent Advisory Workgroup (PAWG) and the Parent Advocate Network (PAN) both organizations were designed to bring equity and fairness to the most over surveillance disproportionately marginalized communities of NYC traumatized by Administration for Children’s Services (ACS). In 2016, Felicia left child welfare to pursue a career as an Independent Support Broker for the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). In 2018 Felicia returned to her true love, Parent Advocacy in the Child Welfare system and became a member of the Parent Advocacy Council (PAC). Joining many subcommittees of the PAC, Felicia spearheaded the PAC’s first community event for Parent’s Day. The Parent’s Day event was designed to uplift and highlight parents citywide for all the hard work and new roles parents had to undertake due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Though the event was the idea of one PAC member, it was an entire team effort and commitment that made Parent’s Day event a success. Felicia also became one of the facilitators for the Parent 2 Parent training for Rise Magazine. Outside of the aforementioned, one of Felicia’s greatest accomplishments was joining Rise Magazines Advisory Board 2021. Later that year Felicia served as a Parent Advocate at the Brownsville Child Development Center under the Jewish Board. Currently Felicia is now serving as a Parent Advocate with the Center for Family Representation. Felicia has advocated in many modalities, for the disabled community, child welfare, pediatric psychotherapy and now on a legal team, advocating in Child Welfare has always been her calling.
